Lesson from the Bear

My wife's grandparents own some land...Imagine live oak trees, limestone rocks, no cactus, no cedar trees.  It wasn't that way when they bought it.  Her Grandpa worked and worked, having no mercy on any cactus or cedar tree that stood in his path.  The fruits of his labor are evident today.  However, there is also something else on the property that you don't know by just looking...a cave!

When I think of a cave, I think of a big door in a rock (like the Flintstones).  But, this cave is different.  It is basically a small hole in the ground...and I am not exaggerating...the hole is small!  It doesn't just jump out at you by looking at it.  In fact, they once found the bones of a black bear in the cave!  Apparently, the bear didn't see the cave either!

In a way, the cave reminds me of the need for insurance.  Life can have pitfalls out there that we don't ever see coming.  Think of that black bear.  He didn't start life in the cave, but he obviously didn't have a way out either.  Hopefully, pitfalls never come your way.  But, if they do, isn't it nice to know that you and your family have a safety net there to catch you before the "ride of your life"?
