My grandmother was recently in a "fender bender".  She rear-ended another person...nothing serious, but a fender bender nonetheless.  As she was getting out of the car, she heard the other person on their cell phone saying, "OK, so you'll testify for me if I have to, right?"  Mind you, this was just a rear-ender and it was a very minor bump.  But, in this other person's eyes, they were already thinking "litigation" and they had even lined up a "witness" who was not even on the scene!!!  Crazy!

Farmers Insurance took care of the whole situation.  It never went to litigation.  It was handled quickly and efficiently and the matter is resolved.  It is an example though of why insurance is so necessary.  Not necessarily because of the wreck, but because of the "litigation mindset" that some people have.

What if my grandmother had only the state minimums of insurance coverage?  What if the accident had been worse?  What if the person she hit ended up being hurt?  What if litigation followed?  It makes my head spin thinking about the risk that some families have by only having the minimum amount of coverage...and they think that they are okay.
